Creative Completion Group

October 10th, 2017 – January 9th, 2018

Second Tuesday of the Month

5 to 6:30pm

Truckee, alternating venues

How often do we creatives find ourselves stymied by lack of energy, lack of confidence, family obligations, LIFE in general?

In this group we will commit to our personal creative goals and then support each other as we work through the messiness that is the heart of creativity. Goals can be anything from learning painting with water colors to refurnishing your home to tackling your finances - just something where you feel STUCK.

In the Creative Completion Group you will:

    • state your specific goal/project in which you feel stuck

    • define a timeline/structure for completion

    • describe your particular strengths and weaknesses and learn what blessing they are

    • be accountable for the outcome

    • be supported in your process with loving feedback and networking

Each week there will be a small reading or creative assignment (like a trip to a museum) designed to get your juices flowing which will translate to the inspiration you need to achieve your personal goals. The main idea being: unfold your process, the yin and yang of it, how you wrestle with it, what you are learning about yourself and your process and the specific outcomes.

    Location: Truckee, varied venues

Facilitators: Becky Hibit & Susie Alexander

    Workshop Fee: $50

Fall Creative Group ~ The Four Agreements

    October 12th – December 14th, 2017

    9:15am to 11:30am

    For Goodness Sake, Truckee

For years, Arts In Wellness Creative Groups have provided a forum that fosters personal reflection, creative inspiration, and significant growth. Participants find that the accepting and supportive environment allows them to discover their unique pathways to creativity while bearing witness to others’ creative exploration. “The depth of awareness and connection achieved in the Creative Group is quite remarkable” says one Creative Group alumnus, “one that must be experienced to be truly understood.”

This fall we will be reading The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz – a small but rich book. We will be studying how these Four Agreements are interwoven on a conscious level into our personal, family, and community lives. As we read and discuss each chapter we will be doing creative processes on the weekly topic through drawing, painting, and collage. All supplies are provided and no prior experience required.

    Saturday - Sunday

    November 4th - 5th, 2017

St. Mary’s Art and Retreat Center, Virginia City, NV

Have you ever said “I don’t have a creative bone in my body” or, “I’m not an artist, I can’t draw a straight line!”? Discovering your creative source has nothing to do with bones or straight lines – you were born creative and this workshop is just for you. Come discover your artistic expression in a completely supportive environment – especially if you’ve never done this, have always wanted to, but have been just a little intimidated. We are all artists and all creative by birthright! We will begin the retreat with collage, then try drawing, and gently move our way into painting. You will go home with several finished projects.

A past participant shared:  "The Creative Completion Group was very important to me during a time when I sank into bad feelings about my creative process. I came to understand this negative slacking feeling comes and goes and I need to honor it as part of the creative cycle and address it openly: How did it show up? What did it feel like? What was my response to it? I learned this ’suffering' is just the other side of the same coin. Understanding and embracing the creative process was essential for me to know myself inside the process."

“With the Four Agreements you can change and heal your belief system, to improve your relationships and your life in every way.

The book is like a map; but first, because it’s a map, you have to start with awareness of where you are and where you want to be.”

    - Don Miguel Ruiz
